And that's how it ends...

Witty, short, spunky, bitchy, vengeful, curious, loyal, fierce and oh so flawed ...

Veronica Mars has ended.

The final two episodes must be watched together, but the penultimate one, while great, lacks the spunk of the series finale. "The Bitch is Back" and by bitch Rob Thomas means everything we love about Veronica: she gets hurt and steps on anyone who gets in her way (they're bad, though sometimes too bad for her to do anything other than mourn) and though down-and-out she survives, but only barely.

Watch it and then read this eulogy for the show we could still have had...

Update: So the final song was Albert Hammond's It Never Rains in Southern California which was poignant for the rainy day, but also for the sense of failed dreams that the show concludes with -- both as a show and as an enterprise of good tv amid a ratings game.
